Mrr...

Sun Jul 26, 2009, 5:00 PM
I'm so tired and am beginning to think I have PMDD rather than PMS. Also, for some reason my computer won't let me login to y!Gallery, which sucks as I don't think I've gotten in an over a month. My account is still there and active, but my computer is being a whore.

I'm visiting my folks right now and trying to catch up on art. Finish various commissions, maybe take a couple new ones to make some money for Yaoicon, and also work on my new shield. I learned a lot from the last one and while the patterns aren't perfect yet, they'll do for a while, while I refine them some more for the fourth - and final, I hope - build.

I'm in the middle of making the base, and hope to start with the fiberglass tomorrow. OH GOD WHY AUGH.

Everyone hope for good weather. :\ It's been so wet lately...

LOLOL

Look out everyone, apparently we're not allowed to disagree anymore! :O

You know, much worse has been done on this site than pointing out someone's logical fallacies and disagreeing with the repulsive, paedophilic pairings which they patronize. Maybe those people should learn to just keep their mouths shut rather than antagonize people, and then have to call in their Big Bad White Knight when the mean ol' grump makes them cry.

ATTENTION, WORLD! THIS IS NOT THE SNUGGLENETS! Please pick up your big kid panties at the door and learn how to cope with the fact that people are not going to like what you like, and they are going to be VOCAL about it.

I will never understand why people think that internet = rainbows and sunshine 24/7. It doesn't work that way, people, I'm sorry to say. This is especially true for fandom. And yet for some obtuse reason, people expect everyone to warmly embrace things that they detest, if only for the sake of keeping someone's special little feelings safe. Oh noez, someone thinks your pairing is revolting and isn't afraid to tell you. Quick, call the waaaaaaaaahmulance!

Apparently I need to find a 'safe place' to vent now, or the etiquette police might come and take me away. e_e

Also, either my usual post-convention sniffles/sore throat/etc. are kicking in, or I have swine flu. OMG YAY. (Because it's not like, you know, I have a shitload of tests tomorrow and Friday, or anything like that.)

Anime Boston '09 Wrap-Up!

Sun May 24, 2009, 1:37 PM
Photos are up! :3

Oh man, long weekend was long.

Thursday: Got to the airport around 1:00-1:30 to catch my 2:44 flight out of Denver. Not so bad, except for the fact that I literally had not slept the night before due to working on Freeze Pride, which I had to pack up (unfinished) to bring with me. Two flights (Denver to O'Hare, O'Hare to Manchester) and a 45 minute delay later I met up with ~chowdahxhead, who is even moar awesum in person, after which we commenced a second all-nighter on that goddamn shield.

Friday: Following a 3-hour nap, more frantic shield work, the final styling of both our Xigbar and Vexen wigs, and getting into makeup and costume, we didn't make it to the convention until mid-afternoon. Fortunately there were no lines to pick up our badges, so we got in and out and on to the wandering around pretty quickly. Not much to do really, other than find out where things like the Artists' Alley and Dealer Room were and let people take pictures. We did run into ~SiciLupin and co., and spent the rest of the day (and weekend) hanging out. :3 Finally left in the early evening for ~chowdahxhead's place and some KFC. Attempted to watch Atlantis after applying some caulk to Freeze Pride, but ended up passing out.

Saturday: This was the first day I went with the shield. We got there around 8:00 and hung out until the Kingdom Hearts photoshoot at 11:00. It was pretty bunk, TBH, but we -did- run into some members of =AfterlifeUSEC (whom we had also met the day before), which was of course a treat because they are so fucking AWESOME. (Also tall. Dear god. Of course, when you're only 5'-4", everyone seems tall.)

We spent the rest of the day wandering around with the mini!Org and stopping every five feet for photos. Apparently we were actually pretty good as far as Orgy cosplayers go; AfterlifeUSEC does not count with regards to comparison in the same way that gods are not lumped into the same category as mere mortals. Lawl. The day commenced with dinner with ~chowdahxhead's family, followed by an hour of toilet humour and finally getting to finish up Atlantis before going to bed.

Sunday: Last day of the con and another early one, but definitely the -best- one. There was practically nobody there when we arrived, so we got to just wander around a bit and have a leisurely breakfast at Au Bon Pain before things got busy. Met up with ~SiciLupin again and did the first half of our own private photoshoot before heading off to the official Kingdom Hearts one at 1:00. That one was actually way more enjoyable than the one before, even though the weather was hot and humid and icky. Well, except for the one Xion cosplayer who thought it was okay to attempt to drag me first by my wig (as in, grab a handful while it was on my head and TUG), then by my coat (grab a handful of sleeve and TUG), and then by my Memory Card prop. -_- The only time at the convention when I blew up at a person, and they certainly deserved it. In what universe is it okay to do things like that? Did get some good shots, though, before heading off. ~thru-apeture-eyes was there as casual!Xigbar, which was made of awesome and win (and ridiculous amounts of people who are a foot taller than me).

We went back to finish up our private shoot following the official one before saying goodbye to everyone and heading homeward (with a few more photo stops on our way out the door). ~chowdahxhead and her dad drove me to the airport after I finished packing, though I nearly missed my flight because airport security was flipping their shit about my coat and my wig head (which Denver had gone 'wut' at but hadn't demanded to paw through all of my carefully packed luggage over). Finally got into Denver around 11:30 Mountain Time, and home around 12:30. After which the cat was snuggled and sleeping commenced.

Definitely an awesome weekend and one worth being at! I wish I had the finances to go to Otakon in July. TAT As it stands, the rest of my convention rotation this year will be Nan Desu Kan in September, and Yaoicon in late October (look for me at Fan Market table #1). Of course, if I manage to get the scratch together to go to some other ones, I will certainly be there. :3

In the meantime, it's back to the gym to try to make myself look a little more like Vexen, LOL.

Many thanks to ~chowdahxhead and her family, and to Niko and his mom for letting me invade their house and helping out while I worked on Freeze Pride. ^^ Also to everyone who contributed to helping me get the damn thing out there, and to all of you at the convention who commented and complimented on the costume and the shield. Nothing is so encouraging as a thorough ego petting! <3

...well, then.

The Kingdom Hearts photoshoot at Anime Boston was kind of a wash. -_- It was windy, which was a nightmare on my wig (since Vexen is one of the few members without crazy spiked or short hair), and there was an absolute plethora of Soras and Rikus. There were a few group shots, and after that it just degenerated into gyrating piles of the aforementioned characters.

Meh. Going to go to the one tomorrow, though I don't expect it to be much better.

Soooo tired, but enjoying myself in general. I wish my shield had turned out better (and plan on remaking it yet -again- with some different procedures over the summer), but it's been enjoyable nevertheless. Getting to meet some nifty people and hanging out with ~chowdahxhead has been fun.

Although I fear the moment she might pull out a bundt cake and throw it at me...

OH SHIT. (I need donations, srsly guise.)

Wed May 13, 2009, 11:36 AM
United is charging me $125 EACH WAY to take my Freeze Pride prop to Anime Boston. That's a round-trip ticket for a box to sit in the cargo hold. I hate to ask, but if you guys could donate even a couple bucks to help me get the thing out there, I would REALLY appreciate it!

>>>Donate HERE via PayPal!<<<

This may be the only way I can get it out there. :(
